Want to experience what it feels like to think, work and communicate like a doctor

WHAT WILL YOU STUDY ON GET READY FOR MEDICINE?

This is not a theory course but hands on. Every topic is taught with clinical application in mind which is the way medicine is actually practised in the UK.

Core Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology You will study the major body systems in depth. These include Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, Cardiology, Gastrointestinal, Endocrinology, Renal, Paediatrics, Oncology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Health Promotion and Infection Control. This is the foundation of medical knowledge and you will leave with an understanding of how the human body works and what happens when it does not.

Biology and Chemistry Practicals Science comes alive in the laboratory. Practicals include heart and lung dissections, and hands-on experiences that most students will not experience until their first year of medical school. These sessions are challenging, memorable and transformative.

Medical Ethics Every doctor faces ethical dilemmas. Through real-world scenarios and debate you will explore the moral questions at the heart of medicine which includes consent, end of life, resource allocation and more. You will learn to think with both your head and your conscience, and develop your critical thinking skills and communication skills.

Emergency First Aid A full one-day First Aid course with certification. Every future doctor should know how to act in an emergency, and you will too at the end of your Academic Summer medicine programme.

Medical School Admissions Getting into medical school is very competitive. We prepare you for every stage of the process: UCAT overview and practice, writing a compelling personal statement, and a full interview workshop with real interview practice including Mock MMI. You will leave knowing exactly what admissions tutors are looking for and your confidence built to pursue your future dream of being a doctor.

Research Project Every student completes a medical research project, culminating in a written essay and final presentation to a panel. This is your chance to investigate a topic that genuinely interests you, develop your academic writing, and present your findings with confidence.

Real Clinical Experiences

This is what makes Get Ready for Medicine unlike anything else available to students your age.

A full day clinical workshop with a real doctor — not a lecture, not a video, but a day working alongside a clinician, practising clinical skills and experiencing the pace and pressure of real medical practice.

Get an understanding of medical school — walk the corridors, meet the students and picture yourself there. You will visit a British University, and you will be taught by medical students who understand what it means to study medicine. You can ask them anything and this will help the goal feel real and achievable for you.

Masterclasses and lectures from medics  — real professionals sharing real stories about what it takes to succeed in one of the world's most demanding careers.

Having fun in medicine. Academic Summer students.
