Make the most of your revision time with these 6 top study tips
With exam season approaching we’ve put together this handy guide to help you get the most out of your study time. We hope you find it useful.
1. Plan, Plan, Plan!
Set alarms, use a planner, make to-do lists, set a time limit and take breaks. It helps to have a plan to make the most of your time. Before you start, check your to-do list and allocate time slots for each. If you don't finish something in the allotted time, reflect and ask if this is the best use of your time.
2. Discover your style
We all have different learning styles. Once you know yours you can tap into what works for you. Consider if you are an auditory learner - do you learn by listening? A visual learner - do you learn by seeing? Or are you a kinaesthetic learner - do you learn by doing?
3. Create your Space
Make sure your study space is quiet, calm and free from distraction. Make it a happy and inspiring place. Maybe you prefer the library, or perhaps you prefer your bedroom with your comforts around you? Do what works for you and stick with it.
4.Set your Time
Some people find they work better in the morning while others prefer to burn the night oil. Work out what works for you and plan around it. Don't stay up late trying to do more, this will make you tired and you won't be able to study effectively
5. Study regularly
Plan ahead and don't try to do too much at once. Don't leave it until the last minute! Split your study load into manageable chunks so that you don't feel overwhelmed. If you study everyday, it helps you to continually review things in your mind
6. Review your Learning
Regularly go over what you have learned in class. Make sure you understand what you have been taught and think of ways to help you remember. Get your family and friends to quiz you, or quiz your classmates! Create your own study materials that you can use later to revise.
