Let me tell you a bit about us...

Academic Summer, UK has been a pioneer in offering academic camps since its inception in 2008. We recognise that simply offering you traditional teaching is no longer enough in the rapidly changing digital world. To make progress, you need an immersive, real-life experience that will help you prepare for your future studies. For this reason, we go beyond the norm and offer a comprehensive approach that focuses on your language acquisition and communication and practical application in curriculum subjects such as maths, sciences, social studies and the arts. Our methodology is centred around the holistic approach of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning).

We have been located at Sidcot School near Bristol since our first summer in 2010, and the school has a special place in our hearts. We are also located in the centre of London and Canada, and 2023 was our first summer in Taunton. However, we have been running holiday camps at Queen's College, Taunton, since May 2022.

What is important to me as the CEO is to offer the following:

  • caring and experienced staff - my management team, camp counsellors & teachers
  • child protection (all staff have background checks), First Aid and health & safety are all essential
  • individual approach, and you go home with a report, a leadership qualification and certificates
  • a fantastic location with a great host school and good food
  • quality camps that keep you busy and give you a great time of learning, trips and activities
  • all-inclusive fees that are good value - including airport transfers and travel insurance
  • a camp that challenges and inspires, giving you lots of fun, experiences and adventure
  • In the UK we are BAC accreditated, and in our last inspection report in 2022, the inspectors gave us no action points or recommendations.

I look forward to welcoming you to Academic Summer in Taunton in the summer of 2024.

Academic

In our future world of technology and artificial intelligence (AI), students need human skills that are not easily replicated by machines, such as creativity, problem-solving, adaptability, ethical awareness, emotional self-regulation, teamwork and critical thinking.  Academic Summer will help our learners develop these essential skills.

There is no better way to enhance your language skills than through our unique teaching methodology known as CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). We seamlessly integrate academic content and language development. We emphasise discovery and exploration in learning. Whether English is your first language or not, you will significantly improve your English proficiency as an international language.
