Get Ready for Business @home is a tailor-made 40 hour course covered over three weeks. This will be running for the first time during the New Year holidays and will be interesting, challenging and enjoyable. Get Ready for Business course content
Get Ready for Business is an expansive course (20 hours of live tuition and 20 hours guided self-study tasks to do at home) that will introduce you to a variety of subjects within the business world. Lessons will be focused on introducing you to different areas of business to help you gain an understanding of your interests and pursuits.
Integrated university preparation will help you to improve important academic skills including essay writing, presentation and public speaking with confidence and peer learning. You will improve your study skills and will learn how to manage your personal timetable so that you can continue to prepare for university success after the course finishes.
You will gain knowledge in subjects such as marketing, business management, entrepreneurship, finance, accounting, business psychology, and more! Students will enjoy learning through case studies, real life experience and theory learning. Additional topic areas will include:
Employee and labour relations
Ethics of business
Advertising and promotional tactics
Creating a business plan
Methodology: Content & Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)
enhance your content knowledge in a variety of business areas,
understand culture and your role as a global citizen, your beliefs and values so you can develop a reflective knowledge base. You will understand how culture and ethics affect the world of business,
develop your cognition and higher order thinking skills (critical, logical, reflective, metacognitive and creative thinking) to prepare for your future studies in business,
work on your communication skills in the English language. You need good language skills to help you in your studies. Good communication is crucial in the field of business.
You receive regular, detailed assessment to help you develop quickly during the course. We give you feedback on your personal and professional skills, your written work and practical application. You are assessed on academic performance and attitude towards learning in lessons and this assessment is documented in your weekly report. You are given an A-D grade with A representing excellent effort and consistent positive attitude to learning and D representing unsatisfactory effort and achievement. We celebrate the individuality of our students and their achievement is benchmarked against their own ability and goals.
