About Academic Camp

Academic Camp is a team of experienced professionals who are passionate about offering inspiring and challenging academic camps for adventurers, explorers and engagers aged 7-17. Our camps are accredited to guarantee quality, and enjoyable with an amazing mix of the academic with trips, sports and activities. You can study in the UKCanadaSwitzerland@home or enjoy year round one to one tuiton in any subject. 

Our methodology is centred around CLIL - Content and Language Integrated Learning. You study the content of academic subjects and at the same time develop your communication skills, academic language proficiency and higher order thinking skills.
From September to December we are bringing you the opportunity to learn from inspiring speakers, who have succeeded in their area of expertise. Whether it is a successful businesswoman who is running businesses in two continents, experienced IB examiner, engaging sales expert, doctor of social sciences, HR director or qualified medical doctor. They can’t wait to share their expertise with you, help you to prepare for your future and start thinking out of the box.

Allestina Ho - Allestina is a doctor working in intensive care at Hampshire Hospital Trust. She trained at University of Southampton and completed her foundation training at University Hospital Southampton. Alle aspires to pursue a career in anaesthestics and critical care and has a special interest in medical education. She designed and developed the popular Get Ready for Medicine programme, in aim to inspire and guide young people to pursue a career in medicine.

Ellie Jones - Ellie is HR Director at Academic Summer, passing her HR qualification as the best in her year. Ellies was one of the first members of staff at Academic Summer and has seen the company grow as a teacher, director of studies and finally experienced HR Director. Ellie is an empathetic and enthusiastic lecturer with a great sence of humour.

Francisco Bustos - Francisco has over 24 years of experience in international marketing & sales. His work has taken him to countries across the world including Angola, China, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Colombia and all over Europe. Francisco is a linguist, speaking four languages and has a great interest in world history. Francisco has worked for several reputable education providers in Oxford, Cambridge and London. Francisco is an excellent mentor and a great listener.

Giedre Balcytyte - Giedre is a doctor of social sciences, an associate professor of linguistics at Vilnius University, an IPA (UCL, UK) certified phonetician, a researcher, a lecturer and a teacher trainer. Her special research and teaching focus is on the acquisition of English by non-native speakers. Verbal and non-verbal communication including the nuances of vocal skills and the prosodic/musical features of the English language is the area she is particularly interested in. Her empathy and understanding makes her one of the students' most favourite Academic Summer teachers.

Helen Lami - Helen, CEO of Academic Summer & Academic Camp, has over 20 years experience working in international education environment. She is a successful business woman who has developed an internationaly successful companies in two continents. She enjoys challenges and shines to inspire others to be creative and adventurous.

Tabby Rogers - Tabby is an experienced primary teacher who has studied Sports and Materials Science at the University of Birmingham. Tabby has developed Get ready for Sports programme at Academic Summer. She has discovered a way of learning through practical application of theory to real life model.

Vincent Smidowicz - Vincent is principal of Academic Summer. He has spent the last 32 years in academic management, teacher training and teaching. He has examined for International Baccalaureate and designed and run pre-IB courses. Throughout his career he has inspired many students to think, discover, analyse, explore different angles and pursue their dreams.
